Target Design Series, 2006
client: GE, Target exclusive

When Target first approached Thomson with the idea of doing design specific phones to have as additional skus, you could imagine our excitement. The task though wouldn't be easy because of budget and because we would be competing with all the other comm manufacturers for the line up. Thomson came out on top with all six skus (2 colors of 3 designs). The second year, Target came straight to Thomson to design gen II. The curve design shown here is from that line up. To keep costs down, chrome was used sparingly and water dip inserts were used to mimic real wood. To keep the look clean, a translucent blue lens that appears black amplifies the blue 7 segment when lit. To keep the thin look without adding cost, an underbelly is stepped in to accomodate the components.
